Workshop Prices:

Beginner’s workshop - Approx 3 hours £45 per person (one lightcatcher & a small picture)

In the beginner's workshop you will start by decorating a pre-cut shape & then learn simple glass cutting techniques to create a small picture (approx 15 × 15cm/6 × 6 inches). This entry level workshop is ideal if anyone is anxious about cutting glass (& I know some people are). You will be shown how to cut, but you are in control of how much or how little glass cutting you actually do.

Lightcatchers workshop - approx 2-3 hours £35 per person (one precut shape & a rectangle)

In the lightcatcher decorating workshop you will have a pre-cut shape (heart, flower or round) to decorate how you wish using accessory glass. You will also have a rectangular strip of glass to decorate to make a rectangular lightcatcher. You will be shown how to cut glass but you are in control of how much or how little glass cutting you actually do.

Trinket dishes workshop - approx 3 hours £50 per person (two small trinket dishes)

In the trinket dishes workshop you will cut strips of coloured glass to make two small trinket dishes (each approx 8.5 × 8.5cm/just over 3 × 3 inches). These trinket dishes have to be fired twice… once to fuse the glass & then when safely cooled, they have to go back into the kiln to be slumped over a mould. However, you can end up with something very usable & they make great handmade gifts. It will be necessary for you to cut glass, but you will be shown how to work with the glass in a safe manner & you will be able to practice until you grasp the technique. The trinket dish will be made in a similar style to the one shown on the left.

Coastal picture workshop - approx 2-3 hours £45 per person (one small picture)

In the coastal picture workshop you will make a small picture (approx 15 × 15cm/6 × 6 inches). You will learn to cut strips of coloured glass to create the sand, sea & sky. You will then decorate the glass strips with accessory glass. The picture will consist of two layers of glass. It will be necessary for you to cut glass, but you will be shown how to work with the glass in a safe manner & you will be able to practice until you grasp the technique. The picture will be similar to the one shown on the right.

You will not be firing the glass. You will see it go into the kiln & I will fire the glass when the kiln is full. It takes around 24 hours for the glass to be fired & cooled at a controlled rate (annealed) to strengthen the glass & prevent it from thermal shock.

Your projects will be ready for collection approximately one - two weeks after the workshop, except the trinket dishes, which can take 2 -3 weeks due to being fired twice.
